Evangeline Rose Gil Eigenmann (June 21, 1963 – August 5, 2022) known professionally as Cherie Gil (Tagalog pronunciation: [ˈhil ˈaɪɡɛnmɐn]) was a Filipino actress.
Her career began in 1970 and she retired in 2021. She was known for playing villain roles in movies.[1][2][3][4] Gil was born in Manila, the Philippines.
Her best known roles were in Manila By Night, Oro, Plata, Mata and Bituing Walang Ningning.
In October 2021, Gil was diagnosed with a "rare" form of endometrial cancer.[5] She died from the disease on August 5, 2022 at a hospital in New York City at the age of 59.[6]
